AHK-Cu is a synthetic tripeptide — Ala-His-Lys — bound to a copper(II) ion, produced for controlled laboratory research into follicular and dermal signaling. The histidine and lysine residues form the copper-binding site, and the complex is studied as a vehicle for delivering copper to cells in a bound rather than free ionic form. In scientific literature, AHK-Cu is studied for its effect on isolated human hair follicles in culture.
